Aged Care Deloraine

The Problem

As Aged Care Deloraine was transitioning to a new CEO, the Board needed the security of knowing that safe hands were available to support the organisation through a substantial change program. Key to the transition was reconciling a $6.5m debt liability, developing a new Strategic Plan and reviewing all service operations to ensure ongoing regulatory compliance. Providing professional guidance to the incoming CEO was also a highly valued component of our work.

Our Solution

Diamond Consultants were contracted by the Commonwealth Department of Health and Aged Care to identify strategies for managing the carried over debt liability, ensure all policy and procedure documentation met regulatory requirements, complete a comprehensive risk assessment of all activities, provide training to direct care staff on evidence-based best practice and providing guidance to the Board on fulfilling its governance responsibilities.

Impact

At audit, Aged Care Deloraine fully met all requirements of the Aged Care Quality Standards. Diamond undertook a comprehensive policy integration of two separate subscription policy suites, developed a new Strategic Plan including annual Business Plan and Plan-on-a-Page. Successful transition to new CEO. Options for resolving debt liability identified and business case methodology developed to assist in identifying preferred option.
